This wildly fun and high-energy show is an absolute delight for all ages! The story itself is essentially a musical re-telling of the lessons in the Book of Matthew—lessons about kindness, fairness, humility, and love. Act One is about the formation of a community. Eight separate individuals, all with their own weaknesses and strengths, are led to form a communal unit. Through the playing of games and absorption of lessons, each of the eight has his or her own moment of committing to the teachings of Jesus and bettering the community. Act Two follows the newly-founded community as they endure the struggles and challenges of the Passion, the Last Super, Gethemene, and the Crucifixion. More broadly focused than its religious roots, GODSPELL asks audiences to see the world as a “work in progress”—something that can be built upon and developed to create a more welcoming and wholesome life on earth for everyone. By living a life of consideration, humility, kindness and love “we can build a beautiful city” which has a place for all to be included and accepted.
